the new azolla event

I am currently immersed in a new project exploring the remarkable symbiotic water fern Azolla.

Through a combination of research, fieldwork, and collaborations with experts from different disciplines, I am investigating the dividing line between suffocation and respiration, and the ecological processes that shape this threshold.

The project is still evolving, and I look forward to sharing insights, discoveries, and developments along the way.

Veldlab veluwe

I recently had the opportunity to take part in an inspiring design week commissioned by Ruimtelab Gelderland, working alongside landscape designers, artists, and futurists in a multidisciplinary team.

Together, we explored the question: What might the landscape look like in 2100 if we aim to preserve and strengthen the freshwater lens beneath the Veluwe?

Our vision, Falwa, imagines the freshwater lens as an intelligent, data-driven entity that actively manages water infiltration, storage, and distribution. By 2100, Falwa has transformed the Veluwe into a resilient water landscape, with forests on its slopes, new spring villages, and regenerative agriculture, creating a future in which people and water systems thrive together.

Many thanks to everyone involved for the inspiring collaboration and exchange of ideas.

artist talk / research presentation

I had the pleasure of presenting my work at the Archival Landscapes of AI workshop at the Eye Collectiecentrum.

It was an inspiring day of conversations and knowledge exchange, bringing together researchers, archivists, and practitioners to explore the intersections of AI, archives, environmental histories, and sustainability. The day concluded with a collaborative brainstorming session that sparked many new ideas and perspectives.

Many thanks to the organizers and participants for the engaging discussions and warm atmosphere.

More information about the project and the University of Amsterdam (UvA) research group can be found here.

Art d’Eco: Dutch Design Week at TAC

Together with TAC I had the honour to both participate and curate the show for the dutch design week 2025.

'The boundary between nature and culture has always been porous – but in an era of digital networks, artificial intelligence and synthetic landscapes, it is fading exponentially. Art d’Eco explores how ecology, technology and mythology intertwine in the world which is increasingly shaped by human design.'
